A Flexible Robust Possibilistic Programming Approach toward Wood Pellets Supply Chain Network Design

Increasing energy demand and the detrimental environmental impacts of fossil fuels have led to development renewable sources. Rapid growth for wood pellets over last decade has established as a potential source in globally competitive market. Integrated decision making including all stakeholders pellet supply chain (WPSC) is essential smooth transition commercially viable production. In this aspect, study aims suggest support system optimizing biomass-based production network design (WPP-SCND). The WPP-SCND minimizes total (SC) cost while also reducing carbon emissions associated with SC activities. All objective parameters, biomass availability at terminals, market demand, production, are considered fuzzy account epistemic uncertainty. A flexible robust possibilistic programming (fuzzy-FRPP) technique developed solving suggested uncertain model. case findings show that imprecise nature parameters significant impact on strategic tactical decisions SC. By investing almost 10% cost, within can be obtained. It fuzzy-FRPP successfully provides achieves balance between transportation costs, economies scale when capacity decisions. Although used manage distribution pellets, insights solution methodology may extended other biofuels. proposed research valuable authorities involved planning large-scale pellet-related production-distribution projects.
